Grain Oriented Silicon Electrical Steel Mother Coil Product Description

A Grain Oriented Silicon Electrical Steel (CRGO) Mother Coil is a large, continuous coil of cold-rolled grain-oriented silicon steel that serves as the raw material for transformer cores and other high-efficiency electrical components.
This specialized steel has silicon (Si) added to iron (Fe) and is processed to align its crystalline structure, which significantly enhances its magnetic properties in a specific direction, minimizing energy losses in transformers and generators. The mother coil is subsequently cut into thin laminations to build transformer cores, enabling greater energy efficiency in power distribution systems.
Manufacturing Process
Cold Rolling and Annealing: The steel undergoes cold rolling and annealing to develop its unique crystalline structure and desired magnetic properties.
Grain Alignment: The rolling process is controlled to align the crystal grains, a technique pioneered by Norman P. Goss.
Insulation Coating: An insulating coating is applied to the steel.
