Performance Characteristics of Motor Stator and Rotor Cores
- High Saturation Magnetic Induction: Conducive to selecting a high operating magnetic induction point.
- Low Coercivity and High Initial Permeability: Can reduce the operating current of residual current devices (RCDs).
- High Magnetic Permeability of Stator and Rotor Cores: Greatly improves the accuracy of transformers and reduces ratio error.
- Light Weight and Low Cost: The price is significantly lower than that of permalloy.
- Good Overload Resistance and Temperature Stability: Can work continuously at 55–130°C.

Reasons for Using Electrical Steel Sheets for Motor Stator Cores
Common motor stator and rotor cores are generally made of electrical steel sheets. Electrical steel is a type of steel containing silicon. Electrical steel is used to make transformer cores for the following reasons:
Electrical steel itself is a magnetic material with strong magnetic conductivity. When in an energized coil, it can generate a large magnetic induction intensity, thereby reducing the volume of the transformer.
In practice, transformers always operate under AC conditions. Power loss occurs not only in the resistance of the coil but also in the core under the magnetization of alternating current. The power loss in the core is usually called "core loss", which is caused by two factors: "hysteresis loss" and "eddy current loss".
Hysteresis loss refers to the core loss caused by the hysteresis phenomenon during the magnetization of the core. The magnitude of this loss is proportional to the area enclosed by the material's hysteresis loop. Electrical steel has a narrow hysteresis loop-using it as the core of a transformer results in low hysteresis loss, which can greatly reduce the heating degree of the transformer.
