Motor Stator And Rotor Core
The stator core and rotor are essential components of a motor, and they are necessary for driving the shaft to rotate. The stator is fixedly mounted on the housing-usually, the stator is equipped with coils. The rotor is fixed on the base (or frame) via bearings or bushings. The rotor contains electrical steel sheets, and the rotor of a DC motor is also wound with coils. When both are in operation, the electrical steel sheets of the stator and rotor generate a magnetic field under the action of current in the coils, and this magnetic field drives rotation. The stator of an induction motor consists of a stator core, stator windings, and a frame.

Stator Core
The stator core serves as part of the motor's magnetic circuit and provides a structure for embedding stator windings.
It is composed of electrical steel sheets, with insulating varnish coated on both sides of each sheet. This insulates the sheets from one another, reducing core loss caused by the rotating magnetic field in the stator core.
The inner circle of the stator core is punched with several identical slots, which are used to embed the stator windings.
Rotor Core
The rotor core is also part of the motor's magnetic circuit. It forms the motor's magnetic path together with the stator core and the air gap between them.
For small and medium-sized AC motors, the rotor core is mostly mounted directly on the motor shaft.
For large AC motors, the rotor core is mounted on a bracket, and the bracket is sleeved on the rotating shaft.
Motor Core Features
- Excellent Magnetic Performance & Low Loss: Mostly made by stacking cold-rolled electrical steel sheets (with 0.8%-4.8% silicon content), enabling efficient magnetic conduction. The insulating coating on the steel sheet surface reduces eddy current loss and lowers motor energy consumption.
- Strong Structural Adaptability: Stator cores have slots for embedding windings; rotor cores feature different slot designs based on motor types (e.g., squirrel-cage, wound-rotor). They require high stacking precision, and the air gap (between stator and rotor) must be evenly controlled at 0.2-1mm.
- Good Working Condition Adaptability: Electrical steel sheets have good toughness for stamping. The core can work stably at 55-130℃, with resistance to overload and vibration, meeting motor needs in different environments.
