Hot Rolled Non-oriented Low Silicon Steel Motor Steel

Hot rolled non-oriented low silicon steel, also known as "motor steel," is a soft magnetic alloy steel with a low silicon content (typically less than 2.8%) that is processed at high temperatures. Its random grain structure makes it ideal for manufacturing rotating electrical equipment like motors and generators, where its magnetic properties are crucial for efficient energy conversion.

 

Motor Steel Key Characteristics

  • Low Silicon Content:

Contains less than 2.8% silicon, which contributes to its mechanical strength while maintaining good magnetic properties.

 

  • Non-Oriented Structure:

The grains are randomly distributed throughout the material, providing uniform magnetic properties in all directions.

 

  • Hot-Rolled Process:

The steel is processed by rolling at temperatures above its recrystallization point (above 1700°F or 927°C), which gives it a certain mechanical strength.
