Amorphous Alloy C Core
An amorphous alloy C core is a transformer core made from a thin ribbon of amorphous metallic alloy that is wound into a C-shape. This type of core is used in applications like transformers, inductors, and chokes, offering advantages over traditional crystalline cores such as lower core loss and higher saturation flux density. Its amorphous structure, with no grain boundaries, results in superior magnetic properties like higher permeability and better high-frequency performance.
Amorphous C Core Application
When used in higher frequency applications, Amorphous cores are more efficient, smaller, and lighter than cores made of silicon steel, ferrite, and powdered iron, by providing high saturation flux density and low magnetization losses. These properties make amorphous highly suitable for power inductors at frequencies ranging from 8 to 100kHz.
