A Cold Rolled Grain Oriented (CRGO) Electrical Steel Coil is a high-performance silicon steel used for transformer cores and other electrical devices, manufactured with a grain-oriented crystal structure to improve magnetic properties in a specific direction.
This specialized processing enhances magnetic permeability and reduces core losses, leading to greater energy efficiency and smaller, more powerful electrical components. CRGO coils are provided as raw material that is then cut into laminations to construct these components.
Comparison: Oriented vs. Non-Oriented Silicon Steel
- Oriented Silicon Steel: Optimized for minimal iron loss and high magnetic permeability in the rolling direction. Requires tight control of oxide inclusions and inhibitors like MnS and AlN.
- Non-Oriented Silicon Steel: Random grain orientation, used mainly for motor and generator manufacturing, has a silicon content between 1.5%–3.0%.
