What is the difference between oriented electrical steel and non-oriented electrical steel?

1, both are cold-rolled silicon steel sheets, but the silicon content is different. The silicon content of cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel sheet is 0.5%-3.0%, and the silicon content of cold-rolled oriented silicon steel sheet is more than 3.0%.

What is the difference between oriented electrical steel and non-oriented electrical steel?

2, the production process and performance of different: non-oriented silicon steel sheet than oriented silicon steel sheet process requirements are relatively low.
Non-oriented silicon steel sheet is hot rolled billet or continuous casting billet into a thickness of about 2.3mm coil. For low-silicon products, hot rolled coils are cold rolled to 0.5mm thick after pickling. When making high silicon products, after hot rolling pickling (or after normalizing at 800 ~ 850℃ and then pickling), cold rolling to 0.55 or 0.37mm thick, annealing at 850℃ in a continuous furnace with hydrogen and nitrogen mixture atmosphere, and then cold rolling to 0.50 or 0.35mm thick by 6 ~ 10% low pressure rate. This small reduction rate of cold rolling can make the grain size grow and the iron loss decrease during annealing. Both cold-rolled sheets are finally annealed at 850℃ in a continuous furnace in a 20% hydrogen nitrogen mixture atmosphere, and then coated with phosphate and chromate insulating film. After cold rolling to the thickness of the finished product, the supply state is mostly 0.35mm and 0.5mm thick steel strip. The Bs of cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel is higher than that of oriented silicon steel.
Oriented silicon steel sheet requires the steel oxide inclusion content is low, and must contain C0.03 ~ 0.05% and inhibitors (second phase dispersion particle or grain boundary segregation element). The effect of the inhibitor is to prevent the primary recrystallization grain growth and promote the development of secondary recrystallization, thereby obtaining a high (110)[001] orientation. The inhibitor itself is harmful to magnetism, so after completing the inhibition, it must be purified and annealed at high temperature. When the second phase inhibitor is used, the heating temperature of the slab must be increased to make the original coarse second phase particles solid solution, and then the fine particles are precipitated during hot rolling or normalization to enhance the inhibition effect. Cold rolled finished product thickness of 0.28, 0.30 or 0.35mm. Cold rolled oriented thin silicon steel strip is 0.30 or 0.35mm thick oriented silicon steel strip, and then pickling, cold rolling and annealing made. Compared with cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel, the loss of oriented silicon steel is much lower than that of non-oriented silicon steel, and the magnetic properties are strongly directional. It has superior characteristics of high permeability and low loss in the easily magnetized rolling direction. The iron loss of the oriented steel strip in the rolling direction is only 1/3 of the transverse, the permeability ratio is 6:1, the iron loss is about 1/2 of the hot rolled strip, and the permeability is 2.5 times of the latter.
3, performance and use: due to the different performance characteristics of the two, there are differences in the direction of use of cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel sheet the most important use is for generator manufacturing, so it is also known as cold-rolled motor silicon steel. The main use of cold-rolled oriented silicon steel strip is for transformer manufacturing, so it is also called cold-rolled transformer silicon steel.
