SGCC Galvanized Coil Material

What is SGCC steel? SGCC steel is a soft-formed high-quality hot-dip galvanized steel. SGCC is the material grade and designation defined in the JIS G 3302 standard. JIS G 3302 is the Japanese material standard for hot-dip galvanized steel. Commercial quality hot dip galvanized steel is a type of steel produced by galvanizing coils of SPCC cold rolled material. Galvanizing thickness is based on thickness and width and is governed by JIS G 3302.

Chemical composition of SGCC steel: JIS G 3302 defines the chemical composition of SGCC steel as:

The maximum percentage of carbon (C) is 0.15%.

The maximum percentage of manganese (Mn) is 0.80%.

The maximum percentage of phosphorus (P) is 0.050%.

The maximum percentage of sulfur (S) is 0.080%.

What remains is the iron (Fe) percentage, and the impurities are so few that they can be ignored.

Mechanical properties of SGCC steel: The tensile strength of SGCC steel is expressed in Newtons/mm and must be at least 270 N/mm2 (MPa).

The elongation properties of SGCC are not defined.

The hardness of SGCC materials is also not clearly defined in JIS G 3302; however, it is understood that it should be less than 65 HRB.
