Non-oriented silicon steel is one of the lowest iron loss in silicon steel, its magnetisation direction is perpendicular to the surface of the core, during processing non-oriented silicon steel can be rolled and rolled directly without any treatment.
The direction of removal is the addition of a certain amount of phosphorus to ordinary hot rolled non-oriented silicon steel, which deflects the ferromagnetic poles and reduces the ferromagnetic properties.
From a microscopic point of view, the ferromagnetic particles in the material become finer and more uniform due to the absence of grain boundaries and grains during the processing. Therefore, the grain size of oriented silicon steel is finer and more uniform compared to non-oriented silicon steel.
From a macroscopic point of view, the core grains formed after cold rolling of oriented silicon steel continue to deflect during processing and are parallel to each other with the original austenite grains, resulting in a structure with relatively large grains and a more uniform grain distribution.
In addition, due to the poor ferromagnetic properties of oriented silicon steel, its iron loss is also relatively low as it is rolled directly after cold rolling without any treatment in order to inhibit further grain growth and improve magnetic susceptibility during processing.
Non-orientated silicon steel is cold-rolled after the addition of the element phosphorus to ordinary hot-rolled non-orientated silicon steel. The phosphorus element deflects the grains of the material before rolling; and the core has a lower magnetic susceptibility due to its low orientation.
From a microscopic point of view, the direction of magnetisation of non-oriented silicon steel is perpendicular to the surface of the core; whereas oriented silicon steel has a direction of magnetisation perpendicular to the surface of the core due to its high degree of orientation.
From a macroscopic point of view, non-oriented silicon steel is formed by cold rolling ordinary hot-rolled non-oriented silicon steel; while oriented silicon steel is formed by rolling directly after cold rolling.

Silicon is a good deoxidiser for steel, it combines with oxygen to transform it into stable SiO2 which is not reduced for carbon, avoiding lattice distortion of iron due to oxygen atom doping. The silicon becomes solid solution in the alpha iron to increase the resistivity, while helping to separate out the harmful impurities carbon. Therefore, the addition of silicon to iron containing impurities in general increases the magnetic permeability and reduces the coercivity and iron loss. But the increase in silicon content will make the material hard and brittle, thermal conductivity and toughness decline, heat dissipation and mechanical processing is not conducive, so the general silicon steel sheet silicon content of no more than 4.5%.
