Applications of Distribution Transformer Windings
In an alternating - current (AC) circuit, 6.6 KV 10 KV 11 KV Distribution transformer windings are used to step up or step down the voltage or current levels. Another important application is that dry type electrical transformer windings can electrically isolate two circuits. This isolation provides safety by preventing electrical interference and potential electrical hazards between the two circuits. The two circuits are only magnetically coupled through the dry type current transformer core, not directly electrically connected, which helps in protecting sensitive electrical equipment and reducing the risk of electrical malfunctions and short - circuits between different parts of an electrical system.
