Non grain oriented electrical steel, often abbreviated as NGO electrical steel, is a type of electrical steel that does not exhibit a preferred grain orientation. It is designed to have isotropic magnetic properties, meaning that its magnetic properties are relatively consistent in all directions.

NGO electrical steel is produced using a hot-rolling process, which involves passing the steel through heated rollers to reduce its thickness and shape it into coils or sheets. Unlike grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) that undergoes a complex annealing process to achieve a preferred grain orientation, NGO steel does not go through such a treatment, resulting in a random grain structure.
